The master FFVII fic index

Because I got sick of having to separately maintain the LJ and IJ pages in parallel, by hand, in raw HTML in the web-editing window... here's a dual-purpose page I can shamelessly post on both sites because it has both sets of links. Mwahaha.

Did you ever come up with anything for the Sailor Starlight triplets fic from that 25 short fics post? I'm not trying to criticise, just commenting because I wouldn't have the courage to do something like that.

The thing is half of me says I need to do research to have any clue what I'm doing and I just can't stomach Sailor Moon. And the other half of me says it needs illustrations and I really can't draw. @_@ I know generally speaking what I WOULD do if I could fix those two painlessly, but... coupl'a fundamental failures going there that I'm not sure what to do about. Haven't officially written it off, but it's pretty low on the priorities list...

Ouch. I can see the problem. You could probably farm the illustrations out if you know an artist who'd be willing to do that for you. Just how bad is your aversion to Sailor Moon and how much detail do you need for the research? I mean do you think you could stand doing research on Wikipedia, and would that give you enough info?

Wikipedia doesn't give the kinds of details you'd need to make it work, like personality distinguishing points and particular bits of dialogue that could be wilfully misinterpreted or rewritten. And I just can't stomach the thought of sitting down and watching a season of Sailor Moon to get a grasp on where in a character arc to put things.

Whooooops - hadn't realized there was another comment on this index! XD;; Nice to meet you, and I'm sorry 2007 was like nearly a complete void in terms of getting ficstuff done around the assortment of life crises; I'm hoping to be more entertaining for folks this year...

Hey! I also joined the friending band wagon! I found you through a threesome rec site that I can't remember off the top of my head, and I was skeptical at first, because I mean, mistletoe and Sephiroth? I clicked the link dubious and came out unable to stop laughing. So, I kinda spent the past few days reading all your fics (um, my eyes are bleeding out of their sockets now, thank you very much xDDD) and fell in love. I have a special soft spot for FFVII, though I tend to stay away from the fandom because...well, I hate how angsty, crybaby Cloud and tender, loving Sephiroth have become fanon. Ugh.

Yeah, so, anyway. I love your Zack in particular. Especially in "Against Regulations." Really, I'm a whore for interactions between characters, and Zack is just dead on. Ugh. And Sephiroth and Cloud? I could die happy with how well you write them. Er actually, maybe not happy until you finish the themes list thinger-mabobber :3

I would like to leave a review for each of your stories (because they totally deserve it), but I'll have to tackle that another day. I have a Government test to study for, and your wonderful fics have distracted me far too long! So, in short, thank you for your great stories, and I hope that I'll get to read more soon!

(...also, besides dry, bloodshot eyes, you've cursed me with this gnawing need to replay the game, goddamnit xDDDD)

Er, I'm not sure whether to apologize for the eyes and the gnawing need for gameplay, but I'm glad you like them! XD

New Zackfic up tonight too... it's not a part of any other universe, just a standalone, but it's there for the "read more soon" option. ^__^

Forgive the randomly placed comment, but I was the Wolfram on VDL before I got the ax. I loved role playing with you more than I can say because you wrote very, very well. Sephiroth was an absolute scream.

I was wondering if you'd be interested in role playing sometime? My AIM is Teachgsma. I'm especially into FF VII right now thanks to Crisis Core.

BTW, I hope things at your home are clearing up. <3

Hi! ^____^ I have FINALLY gotten the contractors out of my hair (and the basement bathroom doesn't even work now, no cold water means no shower, sink, OR toilet, but as long as it's not actively overflowing sewage into everything I can deal with that until I have to sell the place or something) and am working on shuffling stuff down the basement, sorting through sellables, and making lists of what exactly I can sew/make for sale due to having written checks worth the next three months' paychecks before I even got them. *fails at grownuphood!*

iiiiiiin theory I'd like to RP, but right now I am so incredibly absolutely brainfried that the thought of adding anything else to my obligation list makes my soul curl up in a tiny little ball and shudder a lot. ^^;;;;; I would really madly love to take a whole month off and get thoroughly bored and omg I miss having actual summer vacations like burning; just because you work for a university doesn't mean you get summer vacation, in fact mine's more like a summer anti-vacation because while the students are gone is when everything needs rewriting and reconfiguring and (fails again). ^^;;;; I won't say never, I'm just saying 'oh please oh please oh please nothing else right now, my brain will explode if I try?' ^^;;;;;;

Sure thing - I put this LJ out there for folks to read and hopefully get some entertainment from, so anybody who wants to watch for the (unfortunately entirely too rare) times I get a chance to settle down and write more fic, feel free! I thiiiiink I've got that in my profile, but just in case, here 'tis again.

Gotta warn you that I do tend not to friend people back here unless (a) I know them somehow or (b) they write ficstuff and don't post it to the Usual Suspects communities, 'cause I don't have enough time to keep up with my flist as much as I should anyway and I feel guilty about that. ^^;;;

hi! I was just going to say I saw your post in ffpress about their new policies? I just sent them a listing for my genesis/angeal fanart, and they said I had to have a header, so I gave them one, but they haven't updated with a blurb on my piece. Sooooo when did they get hardass?

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]chibirisuchan
2009-02-18 04:25 am UTC (link)
A few months ago -- I don't remember exactly when because it was while my life was chewing on my brain after my basement flooded with sewage this summer, but now their current position is "if your header identifies it as FF7 but doesn't identify a specific sub-branch of FF7 canon, even if it's AU -- or if it identifies a specific sub-branch and we think you've identified it wrong -- we skip it."

So I emailed 'em going "as a reader, I'd much rather see FF7 listings be inclusive rather than exclusive -- if fan creators don't identify their works in a way that fits their format, I'd rather see them marked as FF7 with no canon specified than see them skipped". We'll see what the verdict is, I guess?

I feel bad because I know I don't have time to go back through all the FF7 communities for the past several months, but it took me too long to realize that the new FF Press policy basically boiled down in implementation to "ignore FF7 communities by default with specific header-format-based exceptions for inclusion" rather than "include FF7 communities by default with exceptions for genuinely unidentifiable fics", and by then I was so far behind I knew I'd never have a chance to catch up on reading and stuff...

I also notice that there used to be someone watching our redleather_love com and putting notices in ff_press on our behalf, but now that has stopped to, so maybe now the newsletter is only putting in content that people provide in a proscribed way? I don't know that I'll be providing links to them anymore myself.

Maybe try their email address and tell them that you miss the inclusive-listings days too? I have a feeling they either don't know or don't really get exactly how much FF7 fans feel jilted by their change in policy, since I think the editors are all FF12 and FF8 fans...

I suggested that too? They seemed to have some reason they didn't want to do that from the initial conversation in the FF_Press thread, but I suggested that if they have a specific canon they can double-tag things (once with a general FF7 header, once with the specific canon if it's given) since del.ici.ous lets folks do that. I haven't heard back from my email yet, but I'm hoping they're up for discussion...

Well if they made a post stating that things were now gonna go this way, I missed it. And they did state if you changed a post, they would then show it in the next newsletter unless they mean when you update it, you have to let them know in the next newsletter. (headaches)

I did go to my FFVII coms (two of them) and change the headers there so they reflect the changes at ff_press, but I think it is kind of lame to just skip all this stuff that's out there.

also, I don't think anything from the recent update requests made it in today? The two of us weren't the only ones to try updating yesterday's post with links that didn't make it in today; I think Ardwynna had some that she had labeled but they didn't notice the labels because they were dividing sections of the post and weren't directly associated with each fic, or something like that...

I've been reading non-stop of anything FFVII you've written for the past week. My room mate mentioned that he wakes up every time I laugh in the wee hours of the morning (or the not so wee, like say 7am ^.^; ).
I think I've actually come to completion with what there is to read. Until you submit another piece of tasty crack.

I was thinking to myself. How strange! Here I am smiling, laughing, and even wiping away a tear at all there is to be said between Zack, Cloud and Seph. The tentacle stories have me up in cheers and I can't help but smile and what you've done to them ( - and of course getting turned on by hot tentacle sex).
And you've done all that without playing the game?! Then again - the game barely touched on this subject!

I thought, I'm really strange to be enjoying all of this. Would there ever be someone out there that I can geek out about this? Of the other friends that I have that have played FFVII or know of it, they would turn away in disgust or simply be weirded out. Would it really be that hard to find another that would enjoy what is here to freely read?

Then you know I realized. There are whole LISTS of fellow readers who were here long before I ever came by. Fans that have commented of their favorite moments, their appreciation and just plain SQUEED at the wonderfulness that is posted here.

And it made me so happy. I swear I had shiny sparkles in my eyes. Here are the others that love these stories so, and worship the words that Risu-chan type. I'm by far not the first one. I won't even be close to the last.

And boy - I'm so happy!
Thank you Risu-chan for all that you have written, will write and have thought of. AND! ~hugz~ to all your other fans, because I really am that happy to have come across such wonderful crack and it's ardent users!

Awwww - thank you! ^____^ If you like my FF7 stuff, I suspect what you'd really enjoy is looking around the LJ communities. [info]ff_press has a daily list of collected posts from all the different FF-related communities out there, listed by fandom. And then there are communities for particular topics -- fans of particular characters, fans of particular pairings, etc.

I'm not all that prolific -- I write loooong but don't post all that often because RL tends to eat me alive on a fairly regular basis, so until the day when it becomes legal to make a living as a fanfic writer, I probably won't have time to post very much. But there are a lot of fans out there who have time to write a lot more often than I do!

If you like things with my general "fix-it and make it happier" approach to the angst of the FF7 world, you might want to check out stuff by [info]ciceqi, [info]tokyoroadkill, [info]amarissia, [info]aikonamika, [info]mystiri_1, [info]karadin, [info]delaese, [info]ani_mama (for art), and then there are the folks who post to their own communities like [info]guiltyredfics, [info]etrixiswriting, [info]staci_writes,and I know I'm forgetting dozens but I've got to run in about 5 minutes and these are the ones whose LJ names I'm sure I know how to spell! There's lots and lots of talented folks out there in the FF7verse. :3
